About Our Chapter

Our chapter received its charter in 1926. Please click the photo to see a larger version. |
The Governor William Livingston Chapter is known as a very friendly and welcoming group of women. Our chapter is growing steadily, and we have members in all age groups, from ages 20 to 102.
The chapter sponsors the Susan and Henry Livingston Society of the Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.), which is an organization designed to teach children about patriotism. In addition, the C.A.R. helps children develop many skills which will serve them well, such as leadership, public speaking and public service.
Several members of this chapter are descendents of Lieutenant Abraham Osborn, a Revolutionary War soldier from this area. Our chapter assisted with reclaiming the historic Osborn Burying Ground, where Lieutenant Osborn, his wife and several other relatives are buried. Support for the maintenance of this burying ground continues.
For the past several years, the chapter has celebrated the Christmas season by providing gifts for children whose parents are deployed in defense of our country. Sometimes, we wrap their gifts during a chapter meeting, while visiting with each other.
Members of this chapter have served the Daughters of the American Revolution, not only at the chapter level, but in leadership positions at the state and national level.
